A little about me…
Hi, there!
My name is Doris Yu, I am an interdisciplinary designer who works in graphic, product, UX/UI, and spatial experience design to create immersive brand experiences, encourage interactions, and evoke memories.
I love working with people from all around the world with a diversity of cultures and perspectives. I have a background in both eastern- and western-style education. I completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design at the University of Texas at Austin in May 2021. I am currently pursuing my Master of Spatial Experience Design at ArtCenter College of Design in Los Angeles.
During my time at UT, I played a significant and active role in the Japanese Association at UT Austin, where I designed promotional materials and managed its social media account. I also work remotely with Panopath, a company based in Shanghai, China, as a visual designer. I can communicate with clients in both English and Mandarin Chinese, and I have conversational skills in Japanese. I also worked as a Design and Marketing Lead at Bao’d Up in Austin, where I achieved both visual design and interior renovation projects.
In my design process, I utilize a variety of tools and software, including Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator for graphics; Premiere, Lightroom, and After Effects for photography and video; Rhino 3D, Twinmotion, and Unreal Engine for 3D modeling and rendering. I also use human-centered design research methods, including interviews, journey maps, and user testing. I am interested in how people interact and communicate with design, how technology affects people in different ways, and how to visualize the passage of time.
Apart from design, I enjoy my life a lot by doodling, making travel vlogs, and playing with my dog. I feel relaxed when I am making crafts, especially stickers, key chains, rubber stamps, and greeting cards for friends. I value friends and family, companionship, and love. I love to travel with my family around the world, and I always sketch on the way to keep my memories.
I am open to connecting and discussing collaboration opportunities, freelance projects, or coffee chats if you are interested :)
